I need a new liver, and Ellen needs new blood.

What an interesting weekend. I left Ellen at the Hospital on Thursday night, the day before my vacation to Pittsburgh. Now she was becoming anemic and had bronchitis, both of which are bad when you are pregnant. I felt bad leaving her at the hospital, but the doctors thought that she’d be out tomorrow, and Ellen insisted that I go. OK, I’m off to da Burgh.

I get to Pittsburgh and meet my buddies over at a bar nearby. We go out and hit the town pretty hard that night. We almost wound up in a drug bust over at Pure. It was a weird night. I think I went to bed around 4 am.

The next day I find out that Ellen is still in the hospital, and they don’t want her to leave. Apparently, her conditions had worsened. Ugh. She calls me from the hospital that night to inform me that the Doctor Posse wants to give her a blood transfusion the next day. Oh crap. Do I stay in Pittsburgh or fly home? Ellen insists that I stay in Pittsburgh for the game…she mentioned “what are you going to do? Sit here and watch blood slowly go into my body while we both watch football on TV? How much fun is that?” Damn, she rulz.

Thus I stayed in Pittsburgh and watched the Steelers beat the hell out of the Seahawks. I had a blast! I even got a few chances to give Seattle fans grief for a change. That felt damn good.

Anyway, I’m back in Seattle and all is well. Ellen has almost fully recovered and appears to be doing great. We had an ultrasound this morning and the babies are doing fantastic, so I’m relieved.  I’m so happy that nothing happened while I was gone. Whew.

Pix from my trip to Pittsburgh can be found here.
